AfArtifact #1 - Video Book Trailer
Creating a video book trailer is something that I have wanted to do before, but really didn't take the steps to start it. It was a bit intimidating because I have not created something like this before. In this course, we had the opportunity to pick a book and create a trailer for it to get our students EXCITED about reading. In first grade when it gets close to Christmas time, we spend a few days on the Polar Express. My students really enjoy this book and taking a deeper look at it for the week. To get my students even MORE excited about this, I thought creating a book trailer would do the trick. They can watch it on their own, and that will lead us into the Polar Express for the week! In order to create this book trailer, I used Vyond. This was my first time using this resource and it was fairly easy to maneuver around. I would love to try and create more book trailers throughout the school year to show my kiddos and get them even more excited and eager to read books in our classroom. After sharing book trailers with my students, having them create their own would be a creative way to show what they know about what they are reading and include all the key components of a book. Artifact #2 - Routines Newsletter In this course, we were asked to share our story. The story I wanted to share was my classroom routines my students follow daily. Routines are something that are very important and need to be addressed daily. These routines allow for better classroom management and flow of instruction and learning. For this routines newsletter, I addressed it more towards the parents so they know what is expected in the classroom. Sometimes there is a disconnect between home and school, and I want to eliminate that. Since they have the description of each routine and the full expectations, they can reinforce them at home with their child. When parents are on board and are helping at home, things will run more smoothly in the classroom. If I wanted to share this with my students, I would have to make a few changes to make it more student friendly so they could understand it better. |
